Absolutely perfect location - a few steps away from everywhere we needed. The fact that Rokin subway station was some 15 minutes away was a plus. The breakfast was delicious with yogurts, many hot dishes, excellent coffee, so much to pick from.

It is impossible to start writing an opinion of a hotel without it being directly related to the price we pay there per night. This, other factors, are benchmarks for the expectations with which we arrive. in this case they were high or very high. WHAT I LIKED:. Location: in front of one of the most beautiful and central canals of Amsterdam. In the middle of the 9street and close to Jordaan. location is exceptional. perfect and best you can have in the city, Facilities: the building or interlocking buildings that make up this hotel are spectacular. In the middle of it you will find a Hofje or typical courtyard of the city in the block lung. hotel is made up of corridors and connections with the patio as the central axis. with spaces for relaxation, bars, restaurants, lots of light and a spectacular, modern and tasteful decoration, decoration of the entire hotel is design and with many details of modern art. entrance with a very nice flower shop and several internal courtyards. restaurant and bar are very lively and have a very good service.
I DIDN'T LIKE. Completely impersonal attention. huge hotel with a continuous transfer of tourists. Little direct and personal attention to the guest. Correct treatment but nothing outstanding and I repeat : absolutely impersonal. Services offered by the hotel are all with extra payment (even considering the high costs of the rooms) they offer bicycles but with a daily cost, they offer walks by the channels with the hotel's own boat with an additional cost, etc... rooms are very small. Ours was facing an internal courtyard where our view was the window of another room. (we pay every night more than 400 Euros) They do not have any comfort or anything different from any lower cost hotel. - Very bad value for money. It offers neither services. attention, differential according to what is paid, To each place I demand what it has. From this pretentious and ostentatious hotel. I expected to be surprised for good and surprise was sadly for bad, Paying much less is an excellent option. with the costs it has they must try much harder to be worth what they cost,

Fairly large hotel with unbeatable location so close to the Bar and Cafe and all main sites and a lovely interior garden. Lots of meals for breakfast, including bread, cheese, and meats.

the location is fantastic. the hotel exteriour is very charming, but it makes the inside a bit strange. the staff was very friendly at check in and in the restaurant during breakfast.
the room is very basic, doesn't look or feel very luxerious. walking through the hotel early morning all staff was busy chatting amoung them and there is no greeting or even acknowledgement that you are there. nobody welcomes you in the hotel.

Some eagerness in the staff at check out, that lead to a little trouble

we had a room directly under the roof top, quite and romantic with a relaxing bed, we liked it, even when the way to that room went round some corners and stairways. And the location at Prinsengracht near the Jordaan quarter and a lot of very nice shops and restaurants is excellent.

This is probably the best hotel in Amsterdam - centrally located and with universally friendly staff.
Having to pay for broadband use. A five-star hotel should offer this as standard.

The canal view was amazing, and our private boat tour gave us fine views of the city. The location is perfect, so we could easily explore nearby attractions and keep everyone entertained.
My children wished the room sizes were a bit bigger for our group.

The concierge was excellent.
Breakfast was not value for money at 29 euros. Poor and small selection, particularly of fruit. Turn down service on request at night only. Carpets on upper floors not clean and in need of decor upstairs. This is not a 5 star hotel.

It was smart, room size was good, historic building(s).
Unfriendly doorman. We really hated arriving and leaving the hotel passing this grumpy, unfriendly man.
